110-year-old Warehouse on Rotary Trail Will Get a $24M Facelift

On a sunny afternoon in downtown Birmingham, dog walkers, joggers and bike riders pass by an old warehouse along the Rotary Trail at 23rd Street South.

That 110-year-old warehouse will soon be getting a $24 million facelift, turning it into a modern office, retail and restaurant space with new floors, an elevator, an outdoor patio, roof deck and balconies overlooking the Rotary Trail.

It will be called “The Hardwick on the Rotary Trail,” at the corner of 23rd Street and First Avenue South, along Powell Avenue.

The Birmingham City Council voted on Tuesday, April 13, to re-zone the warehouse from light industrial to mixed-use downtown district. That clears the way for work to begin.
